Dear Colleague,

We wish you the best as you navigate the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) on your daily life and work. These are undoubtedly difficult times for everyone, including all who work on behalf of youth, families and communities.

In the face of these challenges, supporting one another becomes all the more important. To this end, if CJJR can assist your efforts in any way going forward, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

In light of current events, we did want to inform you that we have decided to postpone several of our programs, including the Length of Stay Policy Academy and Supporting the Wellbeing of System-Involved LGBTQ Youth Certificate Program. We are also postponing this year’s Janet Reno Forum (originally scheduled for July 13-14, 2020) as well as our Youth in Custody Certificate Program (originally scheduled for July 20-24, 2020). While disappointing, we believe this is the best course of action given public health considerations.

In the coming weeks, we will be in touch with more information about the re-scheduling of these convenings and the CJJR calendar of programs overall. All those who registered for the Janet Reno Forum will receive a full refund and all Certificate Program applicants and participants will receive information regarding next steps.

Thanks for your understanding, and as always, your partnership. As we continue to serve youth, families, and communities during these trying times, let’s remember to take care of ourselves and each other.

Join us as we celebrate and reflect upon 10 years of our Crossover Youth Practice Model!

Sponsored by Casey Family Programs, we'll be hosting two days of speakers, panels, and breakout discussions focused on multi-system approaches to partnering with children and families. The goal of each session will be to leave you with actionable knowledge you can apply immediately in your community.

Topics include:

  • Framing the prevention continuum
  • Efforts to reduce racial and ethnic disparities
  • The impact of the Family First Prevention Services Act on addressing the needs of dual-system youth
  • Key opportunities for delinquency prevention
  • Building effective cross-system collaboration
  • Meeting the needs of different populations of crossover youth, such as LGBTQ youth, youth of color (including addressing their overrepresentation and disparate treatment), and commercially sexually exploited children
  • Applying research to practice to improve the well-being of crossover youth and their families
  • An informal, courageous conversation between system workers and youth

Participants will be the first to receive the Center’s newest publication, which will debut at the Forum! We'll also honor this year's Janet Reno Endowment Women's Leadership Award recipient.

Registration includes two days of breakfast and lunch, and post-event reception.

Check back to this space for more news, including discounted hotel rates.
