This year the event will take place on August 18, 2019 from 5 – 8pm on the grounds of the American Printing House for the Blind. The new space will allow us to accommodate more exhibitors, attendees and enable us to showcase retail and other non-restaurant businesses. As is tradition each year, patrons have the opportunity to sample appetizers, entrées, and desserts from a broad spectrum of cuisines and ethnic styles. Attendees vote for the best dish and the People’s Choice Award is handed out to the crowd’s favorite restaurant each year. Eat, drink and shop your way through the event all while supporting the American Printing House for the Blind and the Frankfort Avenue Business Association.

About Frankfort Avenue

Louisville’s Frankfort Avenue is a stretch of road that connects some of the city’s most charming and historic neighborhoods including St. Matthews, Clifton, and Crescent Hill. The corridor is full of character – a freight train runs parallel alongside The Avenue and dozens of unique and locally owned boutiques, art studios, galleries, and restaurants line the street. The Avenue is a culinary hub, with more than thirty locally-owned restaurants boasting al fresco dining, international cuisine, and a variety of the unique flavors the city has to offer.

Shopping on The Avenue you will find a wide variety of independently owned boutiques and shops offering a variety of items – from vintage and consignment clothing to outdoor gear, imported crafts, antiques, home furnishings, wine, books, coffee and more. The neighborhood is accentuated by libraries, parks, and several unique attractions for families and visitors to explore –the historic Peterson-Dumesnil House, the Louisville Water Company and the American Printing House for the Blind.

About American Printing House for the Blind

Founded in 1858, the American Printing House for the Blind is the world’s largest nonprofit in the world providing educational, workplace, and independent living products and services for people who are blind and visually impaired. APH received a federal mandate in 1879 when the Congress of the United States passed the Act to Promote the Education of the Blind. This act designates APH as the official supplier of educational materials to all students in the U.S. who meet the definition of blindness.

Our official mission statement: The American Printing House for the Blind promotes the independence of people who are blind and visually impaired by providing specialized materials, products, and services needed for education and life.
