Emerging Prairie coordinates an Intern Experience Program in the summer that provides learning sessions, leadership opportunities, and community building programming for summer interns. 


The Intern Experience program is built on the Social Change Model of Leadership, which emphasizes positive action to improve self, teams, and community. Engaging interns in eight weekly small group learning session plus four large-group sessions, the Intern Experience connects interns to each other and the community.
 
Focus: Personal Develompment, Professional Development and Community Building.  Also, gaining connections to fellow interns and community leaders.
 

Bonus Perks:


  • Each Intern will also receive one complimentary ticket to TEDxFargo on July 25th.

  • Each Intern will also receive Prairie Den membership for the summer.

 
Where: The Prairie Den 122 1/2 N. Broadway Fargo, ND 58102
When: A total of 11 sessions over the course of 8 weeks (Starting June 6th - Ending August 5th)


  • 7 Weekly Small Group Sessions (1 Hour per session, 1 time per week). Each intern will be placed in a small group session

  • 1 Team Building afternoon in Downtown Fargo (1.5 Hour session)

  • 3 Large group training sessions with community leaders (1.5 Hour per session)

  • 1 networking event bringing interns and supervisors together to network and get to know the program better

  • Sessions take place at the Prairie Den


 

 

COFFEE SESSIONS

Coffee sessions are held on [Tuesdays/10:30 to 11:30 am ], [Wednesdays/3:30 to 4:30 pm], and [Thursdays/ 8:00 to 9:00 am].

Week 1 (6/10-6/14): Business and Meeting Etiquette

Week 2 (6/17-6/21): Networking and LinkedIn/Digital Etiquette

Week 3 (6/24-6/28): Appropriate Assertiveness/potential second topic

No coffee session (7/1-7/5)

Week 4: (7/8-7/12):  Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Week 5: (7/15- 7/19):Community Involvement

Week 6: TEDxFargo (no coffee session)

Week 7: (7/30-8/2): Procrastination

Week 8: (8/5-8/9): Investing and Negotiating Job Offers


LARGE GROUP SESSIONS

[Thursday June 6th/ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm]: Scavenger Hunt and Networking

[Monday July 1st/ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm]: Student Loans and How to Deal

[Monday July 22nd/ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm]: Basic Project Management

[Monday August 5th/ TBD]: Creativity
