This professional learning experience for educators focuses on integration of instructional technology to improve teaching and student achievement. A refreshed agenda includes a keynote on personalized learning and a choice of sessions with a variety of education technology tools! Breakout Session Times and Descriptions You will need to choose one topic per breakout session. Breakout Session #1—Choose one Coding Fun with SpheroEdu Learn how much fun coding can be with Sphero! These little robots use the same technology used in the BB8 from Star Wars, and can teach your students to find joy in coding. This session will give you hands-on experience with the spheres, and will show you both block and line coding as your group works to complete tasks. Come, have fun, and develop a plan to bring ideas back to your classroom that give your students a chance to explore coding and consider jobs of tomorrow. Grades: 3-12 Collaborative Learning Journals with Seesaw Seesaw is a student-driven digital portfolio that empowers students to create, capture and share what they are learning in school. It simplifies classroom workflow by collecting and organizing all students’ digital and physical work in one place. Seesaw engages parents by giving them a real-time, personalized glimpse into their child’s school day via automatic iOS or Android app notifications, text messages or email. Grades: PreK-12 G SWEET Tools for All This session will take an in-depth look at various G SUITE tools that are often overlooked and underused. When used effectively these tools can transform teaching and learning. After exploring each took, participants will have time to discuss ways these tools could be integrated into the classroom. Some of the tools to be covered include: voice typing, Read&Write for Google, closed captioning on Google Slides, and the activity dashboard. Join Ann as they talk about the digital tools she has used to amplify the voice of her students and colleagues. Participants will explore and use: FlipGrid, Google Voice Typing, Slides Closed Captioning, Screencastify/Loom, We Video/Adobe Spark Video, Google Voice, Voice Feedback to a Google Doc, Podcasting-anchor.fm, Voice thread, and Voki. Grades: PreK-12 Building Standards-Aligned Digital Curriculum for Free with INFOhio OER Many districts are moving toward the use of open educational resources (OER) and other digital content for teaching and learning. In this session, learn how to begin drafting a blueprint for building high-quality digital curriculum. Dig into INFOhio’s Educator Tools for standards-aligned instructional materials, explore ISearch for a wealth of digital content for students, and discover Open Space, Ohio's OER creation and collaboration space for educators. Last, learn how to use one of INFOhio's Learning Pathways to discover more about curriculum building and OER. With INFOhio tools and resources as the foundation, you can embrace your inner architect and design a plan for successful curriculum transformation. They can consist of important news, stories, literature, and more. Explore finding podcasts for all subject areas to fulfill state standards. Then, consider software and hardware needed to create a podcast. Finally, learn how to create and build a recording area within your classroom for students to use to create projects. Say Goodbye to that End-of-the-Unit Test If CREATIVITY is the highest level of the Bloom’s Taxonomy Pyramid, if 90% of LEARNING occurs when we teach others, if MASTERY of concepts is truly our endgame, then let’s cut our students a break and allow their creativity to shine! Stephanie will share a way for students to design their own interactive poster in Google Drawings to demonstrate learning and understanding. Grades: 3-12 How to Host an “Appy Hour” for Parent Engagement Learn how to plan an engaging 1-hour parent presentation that introduces them to free educational apps which help their child get ready for kindergarten. Encourage your parents to watch, play, explore, and share engaging PBS KIDS math, literacy, and science resources with their child. This hands-on event also includes parent discussions on screen time and the Ohio Department of Education kindergarten readiness skills checklist. Grades: PreK-3 We Are ONE World: Connecting Kids Globally Every classroom has the opportunity to promote Global awareness, citizenship & diversity.  In this session you will be introduced to Global Education integration, along with best practices on how to create globally collaborative assignments and projects.  We will explore resources to connect your classroom with others worldwide & review the latest tools on how to effectively use technology to make a global connection.  Make your Portrait of a Graduate complete with Global Thinkers! Kristen Niedzwiecki, Technology Coordinator, World Language & Global Awareness Educator, Chardon Local Schools. Grades: PreK-12 Breakout Session #4—Choose one Technology in the Co-Serve Classroom Creating options so that all students can access content and learning can be a daunting task! This team has created a technology rich environment where all students can access instruction through the use of universal supports using a model that involves small-group rotations. They will show you how to successfully utilize Screencastify and QR codes at independent centers. Teachers will learn how to embed pre-recorded directions, test, and information for all students to access. Attendees will learn practical, easy-to-use strategies for integrating these tech tools into an inclusive, co-service classroom setting giving accessibility to all students in the room. These tools and tips can be implemented at any grade level and in any subject level to differentiate. Erica Kaufmann, Integration Specialist, Amherst Exempted Village Schools. Grades: PreK-12 Tracking Learning with Digital Badges Join Kim as she shares examples of how digital badging can be used with students. She will share a variety of digital badges uses, as well as her own successes and failures. Next, participants will be asked to brainstorm a topic and a list of skills of mastery in the content area of their choice. Digital Badges will be designed via Google Drawings, and added to a Google Sheet via Flippity. By the end of the session, you will have possibly used Google Draw, Google Sheets, Flippity, Google Classroom and Google Images to create a digital badge sheet for your content area. Wow! Grades: PreK-12 NewsDepth: Digital Literacy, Digital Media, and You How do you engage your students with current events while making essential curricular connections? NewsDepth brings events from around the world into your classroom each week through a variety of media designed to encourage student engagement. Attendees will explore NewsDepth as an instructional resource designed to complement and enhance traditional classroom instruction, develop digital literacy, make curricular connections, and prepare students for college and career readiness. This session focuses on engagement with NewsDepth in ways that facilitate discussion and development of instructional opportunities that connect students with current events, 21st Century Learning, Digital Literacy, and Ohio’s Learning Standards.
